Not too long ago, I put together a logo for PRTS. Maybe you remember it? Since then, we discussed a brochure as well as a website - I wanted to try something a little different and combined the two!
The result was a single page website displaying all the important information.
It's a little wider than normal, because, really, who doesn't have a widescreen monitor these days? (I hope the answer isn't you!) It easily fits within 1080px, and on those smaller monitors (with aspect ratios that are difficult to even find these days) it'll still be clear that there's a third column.
I also rewrote our formmail script to work via ajax, so the visitors truly never have to leave that one page - even when submitting the contact form!
(BTW, the PRTS website is now live!)
Your friend,
Brad

BCRaspberries.com launched!
The Raspberry Industry Development Council has a new website! If you're stuck in the old have-raspberries-but-want-to-delay-eating-them situation, it provides a number of solutions in the form of recipes.
If you're not quite there yet, it'll help you find raspberries in British Columbia.
It presents all sorts of information about the council and their projects, and if you're a grower there's an extensive growers-only section to give you with in-depth grower-specific information. Just request a log in via the contact us page.
But best of all, it features a moving slideshow (with a berry overlay) that we put together just for them.
Oh look, there it is!
You can find the new BC Raspberries website at www.bcraspberries.com.

PropelRenovations.ca
The Propel Renovations website went live just now!
In case you didn't know, Propel Renovations is a company that does renovations in the lower mainland and is based out of Chilliwack. They offer a variety of services that amount to every aspect of home renovation, without the worry of dealing with sub-contracters.
I'm very happy with the design of this website. It's clean and simple; minimal while still conveying professionalism. As an added bonus the site that went live matches exactly the initial concept that I produced for them!
In addition to the website, I also designed some business cards for Propel. I even got to work a QR code into the design, which is something I've wanted to do for a while now.
Overall it was a very rewarding collaboration, creatively. In short, I would definitely hire Propel Renovations if I had anything to renovate! But I don't. It's maybe not such a happy ending after all.
You can visit the website at: www.propelrenovations.ca

WinmarCanada.ca
Just the other day I pushed the Winmar Fraser Valley website live! If you are unfamiliar with the Winmar, they offers restoration, and renovation services, as well as very neat soft-contents cleaning.
Man, I don't really know what else to say about that. This is going to be a super short post!
I guess I will talk about producing the design concept for them? Feel free to skip it though (I would if I weren't typing it).
I started by discussing with them what they wanted of their website, aesthetically and functionally. It turns out they were looking for a design to convey cleanliness, professionalism, and a sense of refinement. Coincidentally, those can match up perfectly with clarity and usability (and I am such a fan those two).
By limiting the number of pages, I hoped to decrease the chances of users getting lost and frustrated, and increase the likelihood of them quickly and easily finding the information that they were looking for.
It was meant to promote a site that provided clients with the information they wanted before calling (or emailing) for more: what Winmar offers, why it benefits them, and how to get into further contact.

With more usage data, further adjustments to the page structure could be made.
Good news: they liked the design! Of course, there were a few changes requested here and there (so it doesn't look quite like the concept I produced), but now the website is live.

Driediger Farms website launched!
Oh man, it's been a long time and a lot of projects since I've been here. But forget about those and let's talk about Driediger Farms - the most recent site to go live!
We started out with this design:
The reds were made brighter, and more prominent. They became the colour of each header type, as well as the links. The header slideshow was usurped by a larger in-page slideshow, and background colours were added to content blocks to make the page more colourful and fill in some of the white-space.
Once they were happy with how it all looked, the website was ready for launch!
So if you happen through Langley this summer, stop by Driediger Farms for some food and some fun! And if Langley is out of the question, well I guess there's always the website.
We started out with this design:
It used more red, and less blue than their original site, which is something that they wanted, but tended toward the darker reds for contrast (to make the berries stand out even more). I increased the use of white-space to add brightness, and left the layout wide and clear so we had more options with regard to content (columns, etc.), and so it would better support the addition of photos. I increased the font size as well, which was something we'd talked about during our initial meeting.
The header image was a slideshow, the weather information showed the current weather on the farm, and the Facebook button linked to their Facebook page. There was no Twitter account, but I added the button for good measure - it's easy enough to remove.
Since the original design, Driediger Farms put in a lot time and efford tweaking things, here and there, so that their website would turn out just the way they wanted it.
Once they were happy with how it all looked, the website was ready for launch!

Legend Painting
Altered effect's newest website is live, and it is LegendPainting dot com!
Legend is a painting company based out of Vancouver (that's a city in British Columbia, Canada, btw) and offers a variety of services, from residential to commercial.
Along with the design and CMS package - which allows them keep their website fresh and vibrant (painting reference, nbd) with ease - there's the website's header, which is a flash slideshow developed specifically for their design.
And if they want to add pictures to it? Man, that's so easy! We've integrated it right into the CMS.
So, If you're in the market for painters, and located somewhere in the Vancouver area, just remember that you can request a quote directly from their website. That's pretty cool, I know. We're basically living in the future.
Just kidding we're living in the present.
